After graduating from Columbia, Mark Weiss started his career as a journalist in New Jersey.

With the transformation of the newspaper business, Mark made a move into tech during dot-com boom number one, becoming a web developer at an ad agency, and then a search engine developer at Barnes & Noble, while taking night classes in programming. He later earned a Master’s in Computer Science while working in finance. Mark has been working in ad tech engineering roles since 2010.

Today, Mark is a senior engineer working on high-performance advertising software that helps fund businesses like the newspapers where he started his career.

On this episode Mark shares how he transitioned into a career in technology and why he now hosts a podcast himselfthat in many ways brings his story around full circle.
